Hello families!  A couple of announcments on this long weekend...

Barnard Dental Program:  We are lucky enough to be starting a FREE Dental Clinic right on-site at Barnard School!  Students will be able to recieve free exams and cleanings.  A sign up packet was sent home with each child in their folders last week.  We encourage ALL parents to sign up their child as we are trying to reach a goal of 100%.  If you need another packet, please do not hesitate to ask.

Harvest of Pennies Fundraiser: Our schoolwide Harvest of Pennies fundraiser will conclude this week.  Students may bring back their cups full of pennies anytime Tuesday - Friday.  This is a fun and easy way to support our school garden - help out if you can!  If your child has filled up their cup and needs another one feel free to ask.

Ask your child... Communication is key in your childs kindergarten reading, writing, and math success!  Continue to ask them questions when they get home about what they learned, how the day went, and if they can show/model some skills for you.

Homework Packets: Homework packets have begun to come home!  Students will recieve a packet on Monday and it will be returned on Fridays.  Please encourage your child to try some of the skills on their own, and then offer support!

Upcoming Events:

  • Spirit Day on Wednesday:  Make a T-Shirt based on our First Quarter Theme (Fresh Water).
  • Yale Soccer Game vs. Dartmouth on Saturday, October 10th at 7:00pm

Books in a Bag:  Students will be sent home with two books each Monday and they are due each week on Friday.  Please keep the books in your child’s folder or “book buddy bag.”  *Students must return their book on Friday in order to receive a new one.  Remember, strong readers read books more than once!

Homework:  Right now, you child should be taking time to read 10-15 minutes each night.  Please remember to fill out the reading log so I can monitor your students reading.  Also, please check your child’s folder for Homework Packets!  Students will receive the packets on Monday and they are due on Friday.

Yale Soccer Game:  I am the Director of Soccer Operations for Yale.  Join me in watching the Yale Women’s Soccer Team as we take on Dartmouth on Saturday, October 10th at 7:00pm.  The game is at Reese Stadium, which is just two minutes from Barnard (75 Central Ave, New Haven, CT 06515).  Reach out if interested!
